SNTT - Forget Bookmarks or Launcher Go Sidebar!

Old Hat New Tricks
Some bloggers have posted this, but since it came up today, wanted to share it again for those new to R8.

Okay, maybe not fully drop the Launcher(My favorite part of the Home view), but if there is a view or a form you need to see/use all the time or even a few times a day, stick it in your sidebar.

What? Huh? How?

I admit being lazy about it as well, but it's here and you don't need 8.5.1 to do it.
Finally moved our TimeCard app to it(waiting for Chris Toohey's new Time Tracker app as well to see if I like that better or merge some pieces)

How to do it:
1)Open a database, go to the view you use regularly.
2)Click on Tools from the menu bar.
3)Then Widgets - Configure a Widget from Current Context
4)It will bring up a popup with 2 options, pick Open a notes view, document or frameset.
5)Click next
6)Give it a Name
7)Then Select "Display as a sidebar panel" (just configure a component sticks it in the "My Widgets" folder
8)Click next

And that's it

You now have easy access to a view or form and can open it up as a window if you need too as well.

View Corruption and Mobile devices

Not sure yet where to start or end but suffice it to say, something is amiss.

I run a pair of servers, clustered, one on 8.5, other 8.5.1 code drop8.

Have websites and db's replicating and set up for both for failures.

All of that works well of course, as it should.

Problem is my school app which I am working on again has a problem on my phone.

I hit the URL to test my changes and after a few changes or some minutes the device is not showing me what I coded. When I try to clear and refresh it I then get a document error message.

Domino shows nothing wrong in console which makes me believe the problem lies within the phone itself. Just annoying to test this way. Wondering if I need to increase cache refresh on Domino for mobile apps.

Or could my view really be corrupt all the time? wondering if it's a template issue but I turned off template inheritance. Just wondering.

SNTT - Nice Designer Popup I Found

How nice of you to ask

Found this while editing my PNAB. Designer 8.5, maybe earlier ones asked too, but this is the first time I recall seeing the message.

I was editing views to sort by country, state, city for my upcoming UK workation. I also found my PNAB is really not in good order, must update it better.

And the message above is what I found when I pasted a copy of one view.

Choosing no marks the database so replace design doesn't wipe out your personal views.

Another great item in R8 that is one of the little things but it means so much.

Making one user life easier at a time.
